Ming - 7 - China
Precious, smiley Ming was born in September 2005, so he'll be eight soon. His special need is congenital scoliosis that is inoperable in China (but not in the U.S.). He needs a family fast so that he can have the surgery he needs! Ming is doing well now, but this surgery is vital, and if he does not get his surgery, his scoliosis can cause major permanent debilitation, pain for this sweet boy, and possibly threaten his life!
Ming is a walking ray of sunshine. Here's some more information on him from an advocate who met, spent time with, and helped Ming:
"Meet my friend Ming. He is a spunky, seven-year-old Chinese boy in need of a forever family. His estimated birthdate is September 15, 2005. Ming’s special need is severe congenital scoliosis that is inoperable in China (but not in the USA).
I first met Ming in May 2011, when I visited the children’s welfare institution where he lives. He had a winning charm and an adorable way about him. I visited Ming’s orphanage again in May 2012, and was reminded of his wonderful personality. Given his medical conditions and the life-threatening implications I had heard could result from it, I decided to see if there was anything I could do to facilitate his adoption. With the help of many supportive people and organizations, I was able to bring Ming to Shanghai, where I have been living as an expat, for a comprehensive evaluation. My goal was to obtain a better understanding of his medical needs, so that prospective parents would be able to make an informed decision.
Ming’s current health status is good. His scoliosis has not yet affected the functioning of his internal organs. So, for now he is doing well. He has surprisingly good motor coordination at this point; he can run, climb, kick and ride a scooter etc.
At the Shanghai United Family Hospital, Ming received an array of scans, which were then sent to an expert in neuro-spinal surgeries at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota for interpretation. The news was both good and bad.
The good news was that, in the right hands, Ming’s condition is operable. It will require very complicated operations by surgeons with the right expertise. The consulting surgeon recommended his colleagues in St. Louis, Missouri at the University of Washington Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital, which is an affiliated, charitable hospital at which these surgeons also work.
The bad news is that without this surgery, Ming’s prognosis is not good. Ming’s curve will undoubtedly worsen as he grows, which will likely cause restrictive lung disease and severe gastrointestinal problems. Ming needs to get surgeries to avoid developing these life-threatening complications. The consulting surgeon indicated that these surgeries should get started as soon as possible, but most definitely within the next four to five years.
After his visit to Shanghai, Ming returned to his orphanage, where he is loved and cared for, but which can’t replace a family and home of his own. He attends first grade in the community school. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well he did while staying at my house. He is cute and cuddly, and he loves to laugh. He studied with his caregiver, played school with me (he was the teacher, of course), helped make dumplings, played outdoor games, and snuggled up to hear a story. I believe whole-heartedly that he will bring joy to whatever family decides to adopt him.
If you would like to read a more detailed report on Ming, I can send you that. If you are not in a position to adopt, but want to help, please share this report with your friends, family and colleagues, so that it eventually lands in the hands of his forever family.
****There is a sunstantial fund already set up for Ming to assist a potential family who would like to more forward to bring this treasure home. Please contact me for more info or this fund and how you can donate to bring him home! PLEASE SHARE!!!"
Ming is on an agency list right now, but the agency has agreed to transfer his file to another agency if needed. Please pray about this sweet boy--he needs a family fast! I have more pictures of him. Please contact me for more information!

Seamus - 5 - China
Seamus was born in January 2009. This precious treasure was born prematurely and without eyeballs. It was later discovered that he has significant hearing loss in one of his ears. His special needs are officially listed as "bilateral nerve deafness" and "congenital anophthalmus." The above pictures of Seamus are from October 2012. More about him from that update:
"Blind and partially deaf, three-year-old Seamus is an inspiration to everyone in his Hunan village. All who know him comment on how much hope and joy he brings to those around him.
This happy, bright, and obedient boy has been featured on LWB Community in the past (“Seamus’ Smile” and “Seamus, a Tiny Bundle of Cheer“). Although it’s difficult for him to be completely independent, Seamus faces each day with an optimistic heart. He sits by himself, can feed himself, and loves to practice walking. If someone holds his hands, he can walk around the house for several minutes and can also stand steadily while holding onto the furniture.
Evening is Seamus’s favorite time because this is when his foster mother takes him to the park, where he enjoys being around others and hearing them talk, laugh, and sing. He is delighted when familiar adults and other children come up and talk to him and touch him! When he hears music, he becomes excited and jumps and sways. He loves going new places and discovering new sounds.
We just received Seamus’s latest foster care report and were tickled to hear that his foster mother has been teaching him some dance moves to add to his repertoire. She holds his hands and helps him spin around, and this delights Seamus to no end! He always has a sweet smile for his visitors, but especially for his foster mother whom he loves very much.
While Seamus is doing well in foster care, imagine the strides he could make with the love and support of a forever family. Imagine what he could learn at a school for the blind or hearing impaired. The opportunities for him to have this sort of education in China are quite slim. It is our hope to see this bright, hopeful little boy be given a chance to realize what he can accomplish on his own and with the love of a family! Please help us spread the word that Seamus is still waiting."
Seamus is being cared for by Love Without Boundaries and is on the Shared List. I have several more pictures and more information about him from past blog posts about him (links are above in his information). If you would like to see any of this or would like to know how to go about learning more about Seamus, please contact me!
